Dr. Rachel Benator M.D.

Dr. Rachel S. Benator is the founding member of Salt Lake Eye Associates. Dr. Benator specializes in comprehensive eye care for all ages, including cataracts, LASIK/PRK, glaucoma, Diabetic eye care, macular degeneration and dry eye treatment. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Her special interest is in listening to what patients have to say and in explaining to them their condition in an easy to understand way.

Dr. Benator’s Degree

Dr. Benator received her medical degree from UT Southwestern in Dallas, Texas and completed her internship and Ophthalmology residency at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center. She has an undergraduate degree in Music Therapy from the University of Georgia and a Masters degree in clinical Psychology from Georgia State University.

Dr. Benator has traveled extensively over the past 20 years providing humanitarian service in the eye care field. She has provided services in Africa, South and Central America (Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Guatemala), the South Pacific (Solomon Islands) and she most recently returned from a trip to Nepal. She also provides eye care for the needy population in Salt Lake City.

Dr. Benator’s Experience

Dr. Benator has served as president of both the Utah Ophthalmology Society and the Salt Lake County Medical Society. She has represented Utah doctors to both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Medical Association. She is currently the medical consultant for the Division of Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired. She is also a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Women in Ophthalmolgy, the Utah Ophthalmology Society and the Utah Medical Association.

amylynDr. Amy Lin

Dr. Amy Lin is a board-certified Ophthalmologist and is fellowship-trained in cornea and refractive surgery, including LASIK. She previously practiced at Loyola University Medical Center near Chicago, where she taught other doctors and residents how to do surgery. She is a skilled cataract surgeon who performs state-of-the-art cataract surgery (phacoemulsification technology) and uses advanced technology intraocular lens implants. She also provides corneal transplant surgery and refractive surgery. She is an expert in treating patients with severe dry eye disease, keratoconus and blepharitis.

Dr. Lin’s Degrees

Dr. Lin received her medical degree from Northwestern University where she also completed her residency training in Ophthalmology. She completed her fellowship in corneal and anterior segment disease and refractive surgery at the University of California at Irvine.

Dr. Lin Lectures

Dr. Lin has given lectures on corneal transplantation and taught cataract surgery techniques to other surgeons at the annual conferences of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Cornea and Refractive Surgery. She received the Best Teacher award in 2010 from the ophthalmology department at Loyola University, where she taught residents and medical students. She has published research articles, review articles, and book chapters in the areas of corneal inflammation, ocular surface disease, and new techniques in corneal transplantation.
